Slip Studio is a new kind of pottery studio. We offer weekly hand-building classes, workshops, and clay camps for kids. Our classes are led by chef and artist Ariella Toeman, exploring art, pottery, food, and nature.

Our clay camp runs for 6 weeks during July and August. We offer two sessions: lower school mornings from 9:30 am-12:30 pm for kids in 3rd-5th grade and middle school afternoons (grades 6-8) from 1:30-4:30 pm.

Max 10 students per class.  All materials, supplies, and firing fees are included in the price.

Each week will be a curated and unique experience in clay, art, food, and nature. We’ll be exploring our themes through design and color, textures and shapes, as well as a deep dive into our senses! Students will be encouraged to work as a group, slowing down and focusing on mindfulness and intention to detail. Our intent is quality, NOT quantity; kids will end up 2-3 thoughtfully made pieces at the end of each session. Finished pieces will be fired and glazed for pick up 2-4 weeks later.

Week 1: Bento Boxes & Japanese Foods July 6-10th
What’s a bento box? A Japanese lunch box containing a little bit of everything on the menu. We’ll be making boxes, rolling sushi, making edamame and miso soup bowls. What’s your favorite thing on the menu?

Week 2: French Pâtisserie July 13-17th
French pâtisserie week is exactly what you think it is: a week full of baking with clay!  We’ll be making clay petit-fours and piping our royal icing, éclairs with the extruder, lining our tartelettes molds, and rolling croissants.

Week 3: Minecraft, Avatars & Anime July 20-24th

This week is all about PLAY! Make your favorite characters and game pieces, and let’s create some stop motion videos.  Minecraft boxes, chess and checker game pieces, tic-tac-toe boards, and volcanoes. We’ll even make a mug decorated with your favorite anime characters.

Week 4: A Week at the Jellycat Diner! July 27-31st

This week *everything* will be cutesie and tiny!! We’ll be working [small] and making jellycat magnets, beads, and teensy tiny, little things... plus jewelry and ring dishes for all of your keepsakes. Transfers, textures, decals and cutters, wires and weaving, and even a little gold luster if we can fire our pieces in time!

Week 5: Baking with Chocolate August 3rd - 7th
As you can tell, this will be a favorite week for many, chocolate! Dark, milk, and white, we’ll be layering clay and making imprints and checkerboards using brown and white clay. Chocolate fondue, anyone? Yes, please! How about a mug cake? First, we’ll have to build our own mug, then we’ll have to test the recipes (of course:).

Week 6: Pasta. Pasta. Pasta. August 10th - 14th
Pasta. Fusili. Macaroni.  Noodles. Ramen. Spaghetti.  You name it... We’re making it! We’ll be using our giant playdough machine (aka wall extruder) and making dough out of clay.  Macaroni [clay] and pasta bowls. Ramen bowls and chopstick holders. Plus a little homegrown [edible] pesto pasta.
