One of the most challenging parts of pregnancy is adapting to a changing and growing body. And it doesn't make it easier that it is so difficult to find clothes that make you feel your best! A local Bedford mom, Emily Cope, knows this feeling all too well as her experience as a pregnant and postpartum mom inspired her to design a dress that grows with you through motherhood.

What is the story behind your business? How did you get started?
Cosette Maternity was born out of my own personal experience during pregnancy and postpartum. I struggled to find maternity and nursing dresses that were not only comfortable and functional, but actually something pretty I would want to wear. I used my fashion degree background and industry experience to design my first dress. I took an online sketching course to get my idea on paper and found a local pattern maker and factory to work with for production. We make all of our dresses locally in NYC.
What are some fun facts about you or your business?
Our dresses are designed and made in the heart of NYC garment district. We also source all of our fabric and trim within the U.S as well! Our dresses are made out of Lenzing Modal which is breathable and sustainable. I am a FIT grad who worked many years in the bridal industry where I learned construction and fit of a garment. I had the opportunity to work in the fitting department at Vera Wang where I learned so much from the most talented seamstresses in the industry.
What does your business offer its customers?
Functional and pretty maternity dresses that are designed for pregnancy, nursing, and postpartum.
What are you most proud of?
Designing dresses that you would actually want to wear as a mother in order to feel like yourself again. Maternity dressing doesn't have to be frumpy or giving up on your style. You can have comfortable and beautiful options during this transformative stage. As a mother myself, I love that I can be a part of their journey during such a season of change.
