Small Business Spotlight: Talking with Tori

Kelly Fitzpatrick and Tori Ross

February 4, 2026

We’re so excited to shine a light on Talking with Tori, a local speech and language specialist who’s making communication growth feel joyful and achievable for families here in Westchester County. In just one session with my own little guy, I watched him pick up new words in ways that felt natural and fun and it’s no surprise why: Tori’s bright personality and playful approach instantly put kids at ease.

Parents quickly see that Talking with Tori isn’t just about therapy, it’s about building confidence and connection. Tori breaks things down in actionable, easy-to-use ways so caregivers feel empowered to support progress at home, and she’s constantly seeking ways to enhance the experience for both children and the adults who care for them. Kids light up when they are in her presence (just ask my littlest), and parents appreciate her knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine warmth.

Whether she’s working one-on-one, leading interactive groups, or coaching caregivers through language tools they can use every day, Tori blends clinical expertise with a playful, family-centered style that truly meets families where they are.

What is the story behind your business?  How did you get started?

I received speech therapy as a young child for a stubborn lateral lisp, and it was something I genuinely enjoyed every single week. I always left my sessions feeling confident and motivated to improve my speech sounds. From early on, I knew this was what I wanted to do when I grew up - and now, being on the other end of the equation is truly surreal.I worked in the NYC DOE for 5.5 years and loved the experience I gained, but I always knew private practice was the long-term goal. In the summer of 2024, my husband, our 40 lb Australian Labradoodle, and I moved to Bronxville - and I finally took the leap in October 2024. Since then, I’ve been the happiest and most fulfilled version of myself. I absolutely love working with young children - it’s the most rewarding job I could imagine.
