Celebrate 40 Years of Logrea Dance Academy + The Nutcracker

By Kelly Fitzpatrick and Laura Neroulias September 7, 2025

Logrea Dance Academy (LDA) is kicking off its 40th Anniversary this September, marking four decades of artistry, training, and community impact in Westchester County. Founded in 1986 by internationally acclaimed dancers Beth Fritz-Logrea and Jean Logrea, the Academy has grown from a single studio in Ossining into a multi-disciplinary program that has trained generations of dancers, launched professional careers, and built a cultural anchor for the region.

Incredibly, at 80 years old, co-founder Jean Logrea is still performing—a living testament to the passion and artistry that have defined the Academy since its earliest days.

What’s NEW:

  • The first of many anniversary celebrations will take place the Friday, September 12 between 6-9pm with a community event at Louis Engel Waterfront Park (25 Westerly Rd, Ossining) featuring: food for purchase by Sapori Di Napoli (wood-fired pizza), music by DJ Johnny, photo booth, family-friendly activities, and announcements and recognitions.
  • This milestone event comes as the Academy prepares for its annual holiday production of The Nutcracker, returning to SUNY Purchase on December 6 & 7, 2025 with choreography by Beth Fritz-Logrea. Tickets go on sale in October 2025.
  • Now under the leadership of Beth and Jean’s son Nick Logrea, the Academy is entering a new era that includes the launch of an Adaptive Dance Program, offering inclusive, tailored movement experiences for children of all abilities.
  • Alumni spanning four decades have returned for the anniversary, many now enrolling their own children—a testament to LDA’s enduring legacy.
